چکیده

D istal embolization (DE) occurs frequently during femoropopliteal (FP) interventions. Treatment of FP atherosclerotic lesions with balloon angioplasty, stenting, atherectomy, embolectomy, or catheter-directed lysis is likely to yield significant debris.1-11 Despite a high rate of DE reaching 100% in some reports,3,10 data suggest that only 2% to 3% of patients will eventually require additional pharmacological and/or mechanical treatment.12

Optimizing Strategy in Peripheral Vascular Interventions: The Role of JETSTREAM Atherectomy

Infrainguinal interventions remain challenging to endovascular specialists. Treatment of the femoropopliteal (FP) artery represents approximately 40% of all infrainguinal interventions. The FP artery is subject to multiple external forces. The use of selfexpanding nitinol stents in this vessel modestly improves patency but is associated with several potential problems including stent fracture, ...

Thrombolysis of occluded femoropopliteal graft with locally delivered human plasmin.

INTRODUCTION Acute lower limb ischemia results from thrombosis or embolization of diseased native artery or previously implanted bypass graft. When this occurs, several options are available to restore blood flow: catheter-directed thrombolysis, mechanical thrombectomy or open surgery. Fundamental reasons to apply percutaneous interventions are avoiding open procedures in high risk patients, an...

Outcomes of Popliteal-To-Distal Bypass Combined with Femoropopliteal Artery Endovascular Treatment for Critical Limb Ischemia

Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate outcomes of combined popliteal-to-distal bypass and endovascular treatment (EVT) for femoropopliteal lesions in patients with critical limb ischemia (CLI). Patients and Methods: We reviewed data of 14 CLI patients who were treated by popliteal-to-distal bypass combined with femoropopliteal EVT. The femoropopliteal lesions included 3 TASC II-A, 8 ...

Prevention of distal embolization during coronary angioplasty in saphenous vein grafts and native vessels using porous filter protection.

BACKGROUND Although distal embolization and the "no-reflow" phenomenon are well described in saphenous vein graft (SVG) interventions, the frequency, magnitude, and characterization of embolized debris have not been evaluated in routine coronary interventions. A unique embolus protection device described herein provides a means of containing and retrieving plaque material dislodged during percu...

Effective Endovascular Treatment of Calcified Femoropopliteal Disease With Directional Atherectomy and Distal Embolic Protection: Final Results of the DEFINITIVE Ca++ Trial

OBJECTIVES The purpose of the DEFINITIVE Ca(++) study was to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of directional atherectomy and distal embolic protection, used together to treat moderate to severely calcified femoropopliteal lesions. BACKGROUND Despite advances in endovascular treatment modalities, treatment of calcified lesions remains a challenge. METHODS A total of 133 subjects with 16...
